Travel Essentials You Can’t Live Without

"This blog is supported by readers like you. When you buy something we recommend, we may earn a small commission"

Every single time I plan a trip I reflect back on the hits and misses (and regretful purchases) along the way.

My closet is stockpiled with useless gadgets I got hoodwinked into buying, thinking they’d make my life easier on long flights or easier shlepping to and from airports and trains. I’m hoping you’ll gravitate towards my thoughts on streamlining down the gadgets and adopt my favorites.

Air travel game changer on tuning out the airplane noise and no longer being tethered to a cord.

Twelve South AirFly Pro Bluetooth 5.0 Transmitter/Receiver for TV/Airplane to 2 Wireless Headphones – Wireless Adapter for AirPods, Airplane. This model can be shared with your travel companion.

This is ideal for multi-traveler itineraries for trains and planes. It’s larger than my secondary pillow and is great if you don’t have a lot of carry-on bags.

I like the medium pillow, it can be hooked onto your carry-on or stuffed in your backpack.

No more adapters falling out of the socket. Hotels never seem to locate a wall socket where you need it and if they do, you only have one. Make sure to get one with the power strip you need: UBC-C; UBC-A, etc.

Compression Travel Cubes save space and keep you organized

Why I like buying single compression bags verses value packs: Carry-On luggage requires clever packing strategies, maximizing every inch of your bag.

Two is better than buying a set of six and why I always use compression bags: When I first searched for travel cubes to try, I found so many selling sets of (4-6) in various sizes and that’s what I bought. But I never use the larger bags and even some of the medium sized bags are too big for your limited space in a carry-on.

This versatile cube features a compression system that reduces volume by up to 50%

T-Shirts pack nicely in small bags as do underwear and socks. Available on Amazon.

Why I like these: No key to lose for one and they can easily connect to purse and backpack zippers.

Fosmon 2 Pack Cable TSA Approved Luggage Locks, Open-Alert Combination Padlock for Travel, Combo TSA Lock for Luggage, Suitcase, Backpack.

These measure about 1.5” inches and are thin enough for most zippers sold by couponhub: 8 Pcs Metal Zipper Lock Clips Theft Deterrent, Keep The Zipper Closed Backpack Zipper Lock Clip are great for securing purse zippers, backpack zippers and securing your travel pillow to your carry-on luggage.

TRAVELARIM 22 Inch Carry On Luggage 22x14x9: Airline Approved, with Wheels, Hard-shell plus a Small Suitcase that slips on the arms of the suitcase makes this a perfect match for travel.

This is one of my favorites due to it being expandable 2" more to offer you extra space for additional stuff on your way home for those treats.
